Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation
As Ursulines, we strive always to be the change we wish to see. In the spirit of our foundress, St. Angela Merici, we work for justice, peace and the integrity of creation through advocacy, action and prayer, with special concern for the needs and rights of women and children.
Our Office of Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation (JPIC) is one of the vehicles through which we seek to impact our world locally, nationally and globally. As part of an international community, we can impact the lives of women on six continents; our interconnectedness enables us to direct our resources to areas of special need. As one of three U.S. provinces, we can respond to the challenges that weigh heavily on women in the United States. We seek to respond to the needs of our local areas while maintaining our national and global thrust.
Through JPIC, we keep our sisters, associates and colleagues abreast of current justice issues, make public statements and encourage action for justice. Keeping abreast of issues on various levels allows us to advocate for change.
As members of UNANIMA International, we collaborate with 20 other congregations of Catholic sisters in working with the United Nations on issues relating to women and children, immigrants and refugees, and the environment.
Our sisters and collaborators work directly with people in need and through education to bring change. We seek to keep the poor and disenfranchised at the heart of our prayer.
