Meet A Sister

Previous  |  Main  |  Next

Sr. Susan KienzlerI’m originally from Springfield, Illinois, where I lived until I entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1967. Having grown up in a large family, (3 brothers and 6 sisters), I feel as though I’ve lived in community all of my life. I’m currently serving as the Director of Vocation Ministries for our province and am also on the Province Leadership Team. In December 2002, Sr. Theresa Davey and I moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Although we’re not on the staff, we’re closely affiliated with the Catholic Campus Ministry at Southeast Missouri State University.

What do you enjoy in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy walking, reading and cooking.

A passion I have…
A passion I have is for my Ursuline life. Since I have such a passion for life, I really enjoy inviting young women to consider religious life as a choice for themselves.

Is there a book or a movie that has had an impact on your life?
I think the movie Dead Man Walking and the Bible have had the greatest impact on my life.

What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
People who know me well would be surprised to know that I have met and had a conversation with Alec Baldwin. (They would not be surprised to know that I didn’t know which of the two good-looking men in the chapel Alec was!)

Who is the one person that you would most like to meet?
The one person I would most like to meet is Archbishop Oscar Romero.
