I
am Sister Ursula McGann, an Ursuline Sister for over 40 years.
My name Ursula came from a grandmother I never knew but the
name has had an influence in my life even
though it was my middle name and I was not called Ursula until
I entered the convent. It was through an aunt of mine that
I met and taught for Ursuline Sisters in Dallas the year after
I graduated from college. After additional studies I taught
Mathematics and Theology for about 15 years and then have been
in some form of administration, mostly treasurers' work, since
then. I currently live in San Antonio where I continue to do
work in business office at Oblate School of Theology.
What do you enjoy in your free time?
Reading on a variety of topics from America magazine,
historical novels to detective stories.
A passion I have…
Great liturgy, which I have found in our wonderful parish of "St. Nick's" here
in Evanston.
Is there a book or a movie that has had an impact
on your life?
The first so-called spiritual book I read in college - Thomas Merton's Seven
Story Mountain, a story of his conversion.
What would people be most surprised to learn about
you?
My love of art and nature.
Who is the one person that you would most like to
meet?
St. Ursula. I know there is a lot of legend about her but I firmly believe she
lived.
