I
was born in Hannibal, Missouri, raised in Alton, Illinois, and
now live in Minnesota. Volunteering as a Foster Grandmother
to juvenile offenders, plus helping out at our ecumenical retreat
center, keeps me out of mischief—usually. My 56 years
as an Ursuline with ministries here in the states or in southern
Africa have brought many blessings from God and my Ursuline
communities.
A passion I have…
One passion I have is providing cross-cultural experiences for
my Caucasian sisters so they can experience the beauties of
their African-American sisters in Christ. Another passion I
have is supporting prisoners, especially those on death row
and advocating for their release when possible, plus educating
people on the death penalty as a pro-life issue.
Is there a book or a movie that has had an impact on
your life?
A book and newspaper that has had an impact on my life is the
life of Dorothy Day and her great Catholic Worker newspaper
which is still sold for .01 a copy; it is truly a spiritual
reading!
Who is the one person that you would most like to meet?
One person I would really like to meet is my Christian friend
Larry Lee, 17 years on death row and my pen-pal for 4 years.
He is such an inspiration to me.
