Seated on right, Sr. Mary Patrick O’Brien’s smile says so much when she’s asked about her years as an educator. “It’s been a happy life. I went where God sent me and it was all right.”

Sr. Mary Margaret Maher, left, says of her former students: “They were a great joy in my life. I was really close to the students – and most of the nuns were really close to the children – and they’d come to us with their burdens and their problems, just to talk to somebody and to know somebody cared about them. Sometimes all they needed was a word or two to get them on their way. I always felt we did more than teach.”
